West Virginia track and field redshirt freshman Annishka McDonald paced the Mountaineers with a second-place finish in High Jump this past weekend at Dalton Ebanks Invitational, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
McDonald, a native of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, finished the event with a mark of 1.68 meters. It was her fourth top-two finish in just her eight collegiate performance, and her first such performance of her collegiate outdoor track career.
Three more Mountaineers managed to achieve personal best marks over the weekend -- redshirt sophomore Zara Zervos in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11 minutes, 29.28 seconds), freshman Lily Haught in the 400 meter run (58.04 seconds), and freshman Eva Rinker in the 1,500 meter run (4 minutes, 41.18 seconds).
The Mountaineers will next take the track this week, as the prepare to send split squads to the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Bison Outdoor Classic on April 11-14. The Bryan Clay Invitational will take place at Cougar Athletic Stadium in Azusa, California while the Bison Outdoor Classic is set to take place in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania at the Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium.
