During the Gold-Blue Spring Game at Milan Puskar Stadium on Saturday, West Virginia football announced the winners of the 2024 Iron Mountaineer Award -- an honor handed out yearly since 1996 to a handful of most outstanding performers in WVU's offseason strength and conditioning program.

Headed into the 2024 spring season, a total of 77 players have been awarded the Iron Mountaineer distinction since it's inception. Award winners receive a 6.2-pound coal statue made entirely of native West Virginian natural resources: coal, wood and natural wood stain. A separate Iron Mountaineer trophy that lists each name that has won is housed in the program's strength and conditioning complex.

Five more names were added to the all-time list of honorees on Saturday at halftime of the spring game, bringing the total to 82 players -- leading the way were a trio of West Virginia natives.

Wide receiver Preston Fox of Morgantown, offensive lineman Wyatt Milum of Kenova, and defensive lineman Sean Martin of Bluefield were amongst the group of Mountaineer athletes rewarded for their hard work and dedication to the program. The other pair of honorees were starting quarterback Garrett Greene and long snapper Austin Brinkman.
