3 Keys to a West Virginia Victory Against Kansas
By Joshua Petry
2. Garrett Greene Must Use His Legs (But Not Run For His Life)
Starting quarterback Garrett Greene comes into this contest with only 122 rushing yards on the season, averaging just 40.6 yards per game with his legs. Last season, he tallied 772 yards rushing in 12 games for an average of 634.3 -- if you don't count the 2023 Backyard Brawl, where Greene rushed for just a yard before being injured early in the first quarter, he averaged 70 yards per game over 11 contests.
You don't want to live and die by your quarterback's rushing yards, but Greene will clearly need to use his legs to create space with the defenders and extend plays. Good decisions will have to be made in that aspect to get this team back on track.
