Current WVU football assistant coach and former Mountaineers starting quarterback Pat White has been ranked among the best college football quarterbacks of the past quarter-century.

FanDuel recently released a list of the Top 50 quarterbacks to suit up and play college football since 2000, covering the past 25 years of the sport, and White found himself the sole representative of the West Virginia Mountaineers on the list, He was listed at No. 24, just sliding into the Top 25 between former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and former Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell.

White earned his spot on the list with a four-year career that solidified him as one of the all-time legends in program history. Serving as the signal caller during the final three years of Rich Rodriguez's first tenure with the Mountaineers before wrapping up his career during Bill Stewart's first season, White finished histime in Morgantown as the all-time rushing quarterback in NCAA history with 4,480 yards, which to this day still ranks second on that list.

White led the Mountaineers to a 35-8 record with White as the starting quarterback. He also managed a 4-0 record in bowl games (2-0 in BCS games), leading WVU to wins in the 2006 Sugar, 2007 Gator, 2008 Fiesta and 2008 Meineke Car Care. White set the Big East records in touchdowns responsible for (103) and total offense (10,529) finished his career with a 7-2 record against Top 25 opponents as a starter.

White had a short professional career, but eventually retired after failing to find a role at the next level. He began his coaching career in 2018 with Alcorn State, and joined Rodriguez's coaching staff when he returned to West Virginia last year.

It's amazing that nearly two decades later, what White did in the old-gold-and-blue is still remembered so well as to see him honored as one of the top collegiate quarterbacks since the turn of the century. It just goes to show what an incredible athlete White is, and how he was able to put the program in a national spotlight it had rarely seen before. Let us know how you feel about where White ranks on the list.
