Pat McAfee says what every West Virginia fans is thinking about Cam Cook

The hype is real for West Virginia football as kickoff rapidly approaches. One of the playersreceiving a lot of that hypeis defending leading FBS rusher Cam Cook, who will make his debut for the Mountaineers today. And one person buying into that hype is ESPN College Gameday analyst and former WVU star Pat McAfee.

During the first edition of College Gameday this season on Saturday, McAfee got the chancediscuss Cook in front of a national audience. And he said what every West Virginia fans has been thinking this offseason, and believes is about to happen once Cooks takes the field in the old-gold-and-blue.

"Just an outstanding runner that led the nation in rushing at Jacksonville State," McAfee said. "This kid's going to be running crazy."

McAfee also hinted at the fact that he may have played a role in getting the NIL funding to the Mountaineers to help secure Cook. Which wouldn't be a massive surprise, giving that McAfee is known to be a big-money donor for the program.

"I potentially know exactly how much he to be on the roster," McAfee said.

Cook posted 1,659 yards and 16 touchdowns last season with Jacksonville State, and previously played with TCU – so he brings Big 12 experience to the backfield for Rich Rodriguez's offense.

As WVU get sets to kickoff their season in less than an hour, the buzz around Cook is reaching a fever pitch. And he's finally about to get the opportunity to prove it.
