Pat McAfee loves West Virginia football.
From rumors of a massive NIL donation to WVU if they hired his former coach Rich Rodriguez for a second stint -- which they did -- to bringing his show to town both before the Penn State game last August and for Rodriguez's introductory press conference in December, McAfee loves to do his best to give back to the WVU football program.
Now, a report from Andrew Marchand at The Athletic indicates that McAfee, an ESPN College GameDay analyst, has a new college football show in mind -- and it could be big for West Virginia football.
Apparently, McAfee has floated the idea with associates for an independently ran GameDay-style show -- and one must presume that if it's McAfee's brain child, he'll want to play a role in it. As of now, plans to make such a show happen are yet to come to fruition -- and it's hard to tell whether ESPN, who McAfee is under contract with, would even want to dilute their Saturday morning offerings with a second brand. College GameDay is a huge money-maker, after all.
Pat McAfee has mused with associates about starting his own, independent version of College GameDay, sources tell @AndrewMarchand.

But if McAfee could get such a show launched and play a role in its production, it could be a massive boon to the WVU football program. West Virginia is often overlooked by the national sports media, but one can guarantee that McAfee would allow a show under his oversight to ignore the Mountaineers.
There's a good possibility that McAfee would even consider bringing the show to Morgantown if it followed Gameday's on-site strategy, bringing welcome eyes to the program under Rodriguez's second tenure.
So while the potential show is not yet in the plans and potentially unlikely to happen at all, WVU fans should be hoping that McAfee s able to make it happen.
