The West Virginia Mountaineers arecelebrating their first 2-0 start to the seasonsince 2018 after a big win over UT-Martin this weekend: but not everyone inside the program had a weekend worth celebrating.
According to WBOY, West Virginia's assistant running backs coach Noel Devinewas booked into West Virginia North Central Regional Jailon Sunday. According to their website, Devine is facing charges of strangulation. Currently, no further details about his arrest have been released. He is being held on a $40,000 bond.

West Virginia football assistant coach arrested on strangulation charges
Devine has been serving as West Virginia's assistant running backs coach since the 2025 season, when he joined the staff of Rich Rodriguez – who recruited Devine and coached him as a freshman during his first stint with the Mountaineers.
During Devine's time with the Mountaineers, he was a standout performer. becoming the program's career all-purpose yardage leader with 5,761 yards, and finishing third in program history in career rushing yards with 4,315 yards on the ground. He was inducted into the WVU Sports Hall of Fame in 2021. He is also sixth on West Virginia's all-time rushing touchdowns list with 29 total.
Devine's son, Andre Devine, is also a member of the program currently, spending the past two seasons as a running back for the Mountaineers.
