The West Virginia Mountaineers recently wrapped up their biggest season in program history in baseball, capturing the hearts of college baseball fans as they made a postseason run all the way to the semifinals at the College World Series, the first-ever appearance in Omaha for the program.

With a major sports program at West Virginia finding massive success and in the national spotlight, fans of the program showed out in appropriate fashion. The Mountaineers hosted action in the NCAA Regional and NCAA Super Regional rounds, with the crowd going viral for the insane atmosphere in Morgantown, as well as their post-game tradition of singing "Take Me Home, Country Roads."

But there was one other way that the WVU fan base proved their dedication to the team that may have went under-the-radar amid all the hoopla – and the did so speaking in the mighty-loud language of cold hard cash.

WVU finishes June as top-earning NIL Store in college sports

The numbers are in from June for the NIL Store, which sells officially license NIL apparel for collegiate teams, and the West Virginia Mountaineers finished the month as the top-earning program on the platform.

The timing of the accolade is no coincidence, and was widely propelled by the team's College World Series run, with several West Virginia athletes being highlighted by the platform throughout the month for their popularity on the platform. That culminated with infielder Gavin Kelly being named the top-earning athlete for he month on the platform recently.

It's further good news (and good branding) for the Mountaineers as college sports dive deeper into the NIL era, where how much money an athlete can earn is a large determining factor on how appealing your sports teams are to play for. This is just more proof that when West Virginia is having success, they have a top-tier fan base with elite levels of engagement – engagement that results in money for the athletes on the field or court.

And if that can continue to be the case, it will continue to draw incredible talent to West Virginia to play, as they'll know there's further paydays to be had outside of the initial revenue share money and NIL deals they land when signing with the Mountaineers – if they find success, they'll also make some bank on the NIL Store.
