The West Virginia Mountaineers are the new Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament Champions, and the community around the program and WVU sports as a whole is prett dang excited about it.

The Mountaineers put forth an extraordinary effort at the Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament this weekend, going 3-0 over the course of three days with wins against Arizona State, Colorado, and TCU to take home the conference crown.

It's the first Big 12 Tournament title for Mark Kellogg during his tenure as the WVU women's basketball head coach, and the program's second-ever Big 12 Tournament Championship – with the first coming nearly a decade ago in 2017.

WVU also made Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament history with the victory, becoming the first No. 2 seed to ever knock off a No. 1 seed in the championship game. And with the win, the Mountaineers have all but locked in a No. 4 seed line in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, which will bring the opening round to the Hope Coliseum in Morgantown.

With the recent tough spells on the hardwood for the men's program and on the gridiron for the men's program, the West Virginia fan base has been needing a reason to celebrate, and Kellogg and the Mountaineers brought one home. Immediately after the win, those fans began reacting to the win online, praising the team and their coach for helping secure such a big accomplishment for the Mountaineers.
