Fans in Morgantown began lining up early on Saturday morning at Hope Coliseum ahead of the No. 4 seed West Virginia Mountaineers hosting their first NCAA Tournament game since 1992.
By the end of the evening, they had seed the Mountaineers advance to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season as they cruised to a dominant victory over No. 13 seed Miami (OH). But they also etched themselves into the record books for WVU women's basketball as they officially set the women's basketball attendance record at Hope Coliseum in Morgantown with 13,504 fan in attendance.

That’s a new @WVUWBB attendance record.
NCAA Tournament brings record-setting crowd to Hope Coliseum for WVU women's basketball
The Mountaineers moved to 45-5 at Hope Coliseum during Kellogg's tenure with the program after Saturday's win, and that has a lot to do with the enthusiastic support the home crowd consistently shows the Mountaineers. But they've quite literally never had a crowd quite as big as Saturday's and the last time they came close was over a decade ago, long before Kellogg would arrive at WVU.
After the game, when asked about the atmosphere and the crowd at Hope Coliseum on Saturday, Kellogg seemed ecstatic about the way the fan base turned out for the program, and encouraged a repeat for the team's Second Round game.
"It was electric," Kellogg said. "It was everything I think that you would want...Very appreciative of everybody. Run it back on Monday."

The Mountaineers will get another run at the attendance record on Monday as they host No. 5 Kentucky in the Round of 32, and they will be hoping for an even rowdier environment than on Saturday as the program looks to make it to their first Sweet 16 in 34 years.
