Coming off a must win game against the Cincinnati Bearcats this past weekend -- though, every week is a must win in Morgantown -- the team now looks ahead to another tough game at home against the Baylor Bears.
Baylor can put points on the scoreboard in abundance, but will the WVU defense be able close a win out not let the opposing team inch back into the game? Time will tell.
But first, let's take a look at what exactly the Baylor Bears bring to the table?
The Bears average just over 33 points per game this season, while WVU manages an average of just over 26 points per game. Looking at four main stats for the matchup -- passing yards, rushing yards, points scored, and points allowed -- the teams are pretty even on paper in these categories.
Baylor is riding a three-game win streak, while WVU is on a two-game win streak. Both teams have a 5-4 record on the year. Baylor starting quarterback Sawyer Robertson has put up excellent numbers this year, having thrown for almost 1,800 yards with 17 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
Although WVU's defense played a better game this past weekend until late in the contest, they will need to put a lot more pressure on Robertson to try to force him into making bad decisions. WVU forced three turnovers against Cincinnati and capitalized to score 17 points off their takeaways, including two defensive touchdowns.
The game looks like it could be a typical Big 12 shootout, so the offense will need to play error-free football. Both teams have the same amount of forced fumbles (5) and sacks on the year (18). Baylor wins the interception battle with two more picks than WVU, with seven on the year thus far.
