A pair of former WVU basketball stars have been soaking up the spotlight on their respective teams over the past week.

The NBA regular season is back in full swing after a short break for All-Star Weekend, and former West Virginia stars Jevon Carter and Javon Small have put on some strong performances since getting back to action.

Carter, who recently saw a 2 1/2 year stint with the Chicago Bulls come to an end as he was waived by the franchise, is now with the Orlando Magic and is making an immediate impact.

After making his debut and playing just four minutes for the Magic against the Bucks before the All-Star break, Carter played a combined 56 minutes in two games this week for Orlando. He opened the week with 14 points, four assists, and three rebounds in a win over the Kings.

He would then match his season-best with 15 points while adding two assists, two blocks, two rebounds, and two steals in a double-overtime loss to the Suns on Saturday. He would hit a game-tying three-pointer in the second overtime period with just 1.1 seconds remaining, but the Suns would win at the buzzer.

Meanwhile, Small followed up a career-best scoring performance two weeks ago by dropping two double-digit scoring efforts for the Grizzlies this week, marking his fourth game with 10 or more points this month.

Small tallied 16 points, five assists, four rebounds, and four steals in a strong all-around effort as the Grizzlies defeated the Jazz to open the week, and followed it up with 10 points in a Memphis loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday.
