It's not uncommon in college football to have your team's old head coach return to the program for a second stint.

It's happened three times alone in the history of West Virginia football. Currently, you can see it with Greg Schiano at Rutgers, and Scott Frost just returned to UCF as well.

Now, it will be happening in Morgantown once more as ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Wednesday that Grant Town native and current Jacksonville State head coach Rich Rodriguez is being targeted to serve as the 36th head coach in the program's history.

Rodriguez served as the Mountaineers Head Coach from 2001-2007, leading the team to a 60-26 record and five bowl appearances, including a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia in 2005. His 2007 squad was ranked No. 2 entering the final week of the regular season and one win away from a likely National Championship appearance -- the team earned a Fiesta Bowl appearance, but Rodriguez left for the same position at Michigan before the postseason.
