The West Virginia Mountaineers have won back-to-back games and will now be entering their bye week with some momentum on their side.

For the second straight week, West Virginia secured victory in a game that came down the final moments. But this time, it was the defense that stepped up to help lead the team to victory – forcing a fumble in the final seconds of the game as TCU was driving the ball and inside the redzone to secure a 24-20 victory.

Fans are optimistic after WVU football's second consecutive win

The internet immediately filled with reactions to the thrilling defensive walk-off win for the Mountaineers. The main emotion coming from the West Virginia fanbase seemed to be excitement, as West Virginia topped their win total from last season and moved within one game of bow eligibility with four games remaining on the schedule.

It’s a great day to be a Mountaineer wherever you may be!!!!

Of course, the play of the day belonged to veteran linebacker Ben Cutter, who was in the right place at the right time on the final play and made the heads up play to fall on the ball when David Afogho knocked it loose on what would turn out to be TCU's final offensive play of the game.

Cutter, who played his 46th game for the Mountaineers on Saturday, has displayed incredible loyalty to the program over the past four seasons, was rewarded with an all-time West Virginia moment to help his team win the game. And there were some fans who wanted to give him the glory for that moment.

Meanwhile, some fans were talking up how exciting this team has become to watch – which feels a bit antithetical to what the West Virginia fanbase has become accustomed to during the Neal Brown era. And many highlighted that the past couple of weeks felt like watching a young team learning how to become successful.

Check out a few more of the online reactions below, and let us know how you're feeling about West Virginia's latest win.

Hand Up!🙋‍♂️

When Neal was here, I complained the entire tenure that WVU wasn’t fun to watch. I said if they weren’t gonna compete for national relevance… be entertaining.

This group might not win again. Who knows. They might win out.

Regardless… they’re fun to watch. #WVU

This young team is learning how to win right in front of our eyes. It’s a beautiful thing.

What a tough road win!! Proud of these guys. Thanks to the fans that made the trip to Fort Worth and the ones cheering, rooting and probably praying at home. Enjoy the bye week! #HailWV https://t.co/az5kUeSPbH
