The West Virginia Mountaineers have closed out Ross Hodge's debut season at the helm with three consecutive wins and a championship trophy on Sunday as they knocked off the Oklahoma Sooners in overtime to capture the College Basketball Crown.

It's a massive ending to a season that didn't always go West Virginia's way on the court, and should help generate some excitement in Morgantown entering the second season of Hodge's tenure with the Mountaineers. But WVU wouldn't have gotten there without senior guard Honor Huff.

Honor Huff sets single-season three-point record, earns Crown MVP honors with electric shooting performance in win over Oklahoma

Huff exploded against the Oklahoma Sooners on the offensive end of the court, scoring a career-high 38 points while going 9-of-19 from the field and 12-of-12 from the free throw line. He knocked down eight three-pointers in the win, which helped him take his place in the record book with the most single-season three-pointers in WVU history. He drained 120 three-pointers on the season.

"I just didn't want to go out with a loss," Huff said. "I love my brothers too much. I mean, they believed in me, my brothers believe in me no matter if the shots were falling or not. I didn't want go ou if we came this far. We didn't come this far to come this far, so we had to get a win."

His effort also during the teammate helped him land MVP honors for the tournament. During the three-game stretch, Huff recorded 72 points and 11 assists, and went 23-of-25 from the charity stripe.

Huff was also responsible for the game-tying free throws in the opening round against Stanford that forced overtime and allowed WVU to win. Huff also knocked down game-tying free throws as the Mountaineers mounted a rally from a deficit against Oklahoma on Sunday.
