On Friday afternoon, it was reported that former West Virginia guard Honor Huff is entering the transfer portal as he seeks to play college basketball this season. The move comes as Huff awaits a hearing net Wednesday in a lawsuit seeking an additional year of eligibility.

Since it was initially reported that Huff was seeking another year of eligibility, rumors have been swirling regarding a potential return to play for Ross Hodge and the West Virginia Mountaineers this season. And while many fans had their hopes up, it appears that will not be coming to fruition – and honestly, that shouldn't be surprising.
West Virginia does not have room for Honor Huff
The West Virginia Mountaineers currently have a full roster right now, so there are no spots open for a player like Huff without kicking someone else who has been practicing with the team to the curb. This close to the season, Ross Hodge isn't going to make that move. And it frankly would be unwise to do so without the knowledge that Huff will definitely be eligible – and that's still very much up in the air.
West Virginia also has two starting guards in Miles Sadler and Finley Bizjack, as well as Joson Sanon, Martin Somerville featuring heavily in the team's lineup during exhibition action this past weekend. And Amir Jenkins is also returning from last season, but is currently healing from an injury. So even if you were to add Huff, there's not really a solid spot in the rotation for him.
