Former SEC wide receiver joins West Virginia football roster

West Virginia football added another piece at wideout on Saturday as former SEC receiver Daveon Walker committed to the Mountaineers. With the recent granting of extra eligibility to former JUCO players, he should have three years of eligibility remaining.



Walker initially signed with Vanderbilt out of high school and spent two seasons with the program, redshirting his first season and appearing in just one game in 2023. He transferred to Butler Community College (KS) this past season, where he led the team in receiving with 19 receptions for 331 yards despite appearing in just 6 of the programโ€™s 11 games.

Walker was a three-star prospect ranked by both 247Sports and ESPN as one of the Top 100 wide receivers in the Class of 2022 โ€“ he starred at Warner Robins High School in Georgia, where his helped his team to a 13-1 record and state championship during his senior season with a standout performance that saw him bring in 60 receptions for 1,154 yards and 13 touchdowns.
