Fran Fraschilla knows a thing or two about the sport of college basketball.

Fraschilla has been an ESPN analyst for several years, primarily serving as a college basketball and international basketball correspondent. He also has an extensive history coaching college basketball at the Division 1 level, serving as the head coach at Manhattan, St. John's, and New Mexico at different points.

Fraschilla tries to maintain a degree of neutrality as a prominent figure in the national media, but with rumors swirling regarding whether or not West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries will stick around in Morgantown or return to his native state and take the recently open gig at Iowa, Fraschilla found himself weighing in on the topic on Twitter/X.

"I try not to get it into who has better jobs but in this case, [WVU] is (if not a sleeping giant) a better job than [Iowa] right now in my opinion," Fraschilla said.

"The team is the state’s pro basketball team & fan support is awesome. They have great NIL and great facilities. And the governor has your back. The leagues are similar, of course. I’m hoping that the Mountaineers do not need another coach for a while."

From NCAA Tournament runs to National Championships to Conference Championships, the two programs measure up quite evenly over their existence. But in the past 20 years, the Mountaineers have been a more prominent program. The Mountaineers lead the Hawkeyes over that time frame in NCAA Tournament appearances 12-9 and Sweet 16 appearances 6-0.

There is the potential of more resources being available at a Big 10 program compared to a Big 12 program, but beyond that, the decision likely comes down to whether or not how badly DeVries wants to go home. WVU is clearly the better gig at this time.
