If you're a West Virginia basketball fan, you might ask your home speaker or Google assistant to play "Dreams Money Can Buy" by Drake. It is, after all, an appropriate song for the moment.

Former WVU Head Coach Darian DeVries had lots of dreams that it turned out money could purchase, and the Indiana Hoosiers were simultaneously DeVries' dream and the one purchasing it for him -- call it a mutually beneficial agreement.

The Hoosiers got one of the hottest young coaches in the sport of college basketball, and DeVries received a hefty chunk of change to take his "dream job."

"[Indiana is] a dream job for anyone, but especially someone growing up in the Midwest, watching the old Big 8 and Big Ten," DeVries said during an introductory press conference in Bloomington on Wednesday.

It seems callous, perhaps, that he was being introduced at a presser so soon -- at this time yesterday, DeVries was still at the helm of WVU. At this time 72 hours ago, the Mountaineers were considered a lock for the WVU tournament.

EerSports first reported on Friday that DeVries to Indiana was a potential threat, so it's likely given how quickly things moved, DeVries interviewed between his Big 12 Tournament loss and a potential NCAA Tournament appearance. He did the same last year when interviewing for WVU while at Drake.

But when a dream job calls, you tend to listen, especially when they're offering to nearly double your salary.

DeVries made $2.8 million this past season -- he was set for a $100,000 pay range. We haven't heard details of the extension which was offered DeVries yet, though everyone is sure there was an offer on the table. But at his peak, long-time WVU coach and basketball legend Bob Huggins was making $4.15 million. It's hard to imagine WVU going higher than that, given the current financials at the school.

But in Bloomington, Darian DeVries will make close to $5 million a year for the next six seasons, according to Matt Norlander with CBS Sports. Indiana will also owe West Virginia north of $6 million dollars for DeVries' buyout combined with any money DeVries in contractually obligated to pay back for leaving within a year of his initial deal.
