College football universe, WVU fans react excitedly as Pat White hired in Morgantown

On Wednesday afternoon, the news broke that West Virginia football legend Pat White would be returning to Morgantown to join his former head coach Rich Rodriguez's staff. White is second all-timein rushing yards by a quarterback at the FBS level and won four consecutive games during his stint at WVU as a player.

White's return has been celebrated by WVU fans, who are excited to see their favorite son join the sidelines for the Mountaineers. White brings with him coaching experience at winning organizations, the respect of his peers in the industry, and the love of the fanbase he'll now be helping develop as an assistant.

But it's not only WVU fans that reacted to the news on Wednesday -- though they are certainly sharing their excitement as well. But folks across the football world were quick to respond to the news that one of WVU's most electrifying athletes is coming back to Milan Puskar Stadium in a different role.

Legendary ESPN reporter Holly Rowe, White's former teammate and College Gameday analyst Pat McAfee, and fellow legendary WVU signal caller and current Seattle Seahawks starter Geno Smith were amongst some of the more prominent names in the football world to react.



Other prominent figures in the WVU football universe responded enthusiastically to the news, as well. West Virginia's Athletic Director Wren Baker -- who certainly had a role in the hire -- welcomed White home on social media. WVU media personality John Lowe of WBOY and Gold and Blue Nation celebrated with a Pat White highlight reel, while Gold and Blue Nation co-host Ryan Decker shared his exuberance as well.
