West Virginia football is interested in continuing the tradition of standout sibling pairs inside the Mountaineer program -- and they will likely find out within the next month whether they'll succeed.
The Mountaineers are set to have freshman wide receiver Tyshawn Dues join the program once call camp commences, and they're also interested in landing his brother La'Ron Dues as well. The latter is a Class of 2026 prospect, and currently plays for Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Florida. La'Ron Dues recently announced his Top 5 schools as he nears the end of his recruiting process, and the Mountaineers made the cut -- he's also still considering Georgia Tech, Indiana, Oregon, and South Florida.
West Virginia will hopefully know soon whether they'll have another set of brothers from the Mountain State following in the footsteps of such former standouts as Dante and Darius Stills. According to a report on Saturday from Schuyler Callihan with West Virginia On SI, Dues is set to make his college decision during the last weekend of June, which falls between June 27th-29th. He has an official visit in Morgantown set for June 6th.
The Dues family is originally from West Virginia -- Tyshawn and La'Ron played together at Hurricane High School, and the former finished his career with the Redskins. La'Ron transferred out-of-state to Cadinal Mooney, where he had a massive junior season on the defensive side of the ball, which seems to be where WVU wants to play him.
He managed to record 81 tackles and 25 pass breakups while also pulling down five interceptions during the 2024 season. The year prior, while still at Hurricane, he was named t the All-Mountain State Athletic Conference (MSAC) team at the defensive back position.
