Ceili McCabe, WVU women's cross country claim NCCA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship

West Virginia’s Ceili McCabe captured her third individual NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship of her collegiate career on Friday and a trio of Mountaineers garnered top-ten finishes as the team coasted to a 1st-place finish overall at the regional meet hosted by Penn State at the Blue and White Courses in University Park, Pa.
McCabe posted a personal best finish in her win, crossing the line in the women’s 6,000-meter run in 19 minutes, 2.60 seconds -- she has previously won both the 2021 and 2022 Mid-Atlantic Regional.
McCabe was joined in the top-ten by freshman Joy Naukot, who finished sixth overall individually with a mark of 19 minutes, 49.40 seconds, and senior Sarah Tait, who took tenth overall with a mark of 19 minutes, 58.90 seconds. Junior Emily Bryce and senior Madison Trippett rounded out the scoring for the Mountaineers with finishes of 11th and 13th overall respectively.
The Mountaineers claimed first overall with a team score of 41 points, easily eclipsing second-place team finisher Georgetown who ended the day with 58 points.
The Mountaineers will now advance to the NCAA Championships on Saturday, November 23rd, set to take place from the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin.
