Armani Guzman's return instantly elevates WVU baseball roster for 2027 season
Fans would certainly be excited to see Guzman back just due to his love of the state and the program, and you have to look no further to see that demonstrated than the viral moment of Guzman singing "Take Me Home, Country Roads" while shedding tears following a massive NCAA Tournament win earlier this year.
But there are plenty of reasons to be excited about Guzman's return as well, particularly in regards to what he adds to the 2027 lineup. Guzman has helped secure walk-off victories in the past two NCAA Regional rounds for the Mountaineers, batting a .321 average and recording 75 hits and 45 RBI while scoring 66 runs this past season.
He's also a dynamic threat on the base paths, setting a single-season program record with 42 stolen bases this season, including his viral steal of home plate during the College World Series.
Sabins and his staff were uncertain they would be able to get Guzman back, but when it was clear that it was in Guzman's best interest to return to school for his final campaign, there was no question that they'd be willing to welcome him back into the fold. Now, West Virginia fans will be blessed with one more season of Guzman's thrilling play.
