WVU Football: Baylor Bears scouting report
Know your foe: Baylor Bears Special Teams
Sometimes, all your team needs is a spark, to ignite that offensive drive or defensive stand. Special Teams accounts for 33% of the football team. Often times, your dynamic wide receiver or running back is the one returning kick offs or punts. First, where does Baylor rank, among Special Teams units? Second, which players provide the Special Teams spark, for Baylor?
The Bears are ranked 22nd nationally in kickoff and punt return units. They have blocked 8 kicks, over the past 11 games. Coach Brown noted that their Special Teams units possess a lot of team speed.
Number 21, sophomore Josh Fleeks is a 188 pound wide receiver that leads the team in kick return yards with 168. He averages 24 yards per kick return and his longest run is 60 yards. I could also mention Arnold Grayland, who has returned a punt for a touchdown, but he is questionable due to an injury and will likely not play. Other kick returners include John Lovett, who averages 20.8 return yards and JaMycal Hasty who averages 16 yards per return.
