West Virginia basketball defeated Marshall in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, declaring itself the King of the Mountain State with the win.
The West Virginia Mountaineers didn’t mess around with 13-seed Marshall in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. After trailing by eight points early, the Mountaineers stormed back and decimated the Thundering Herd.
In the process, Bob Huggins and West Virginia advanced to the Sweet 16 and a matchup with 1-seed Villanova.
With the victory, West Virginia asserted its dominance as the king of the mountain (state). The two schools – separated by just 200 miles – clashed thousands of miles away from home, with WVU winning 94-71.
