WVU football: Will Grier begins throwing without restrictions
The WVU football fanbase can breathe a little easier today because Will Grier has started to throw a football.
According to WVUsports.com, Grier started throwing as spring practice has gotten underway in Morgantown. Grier ca throw without restriction, which means his offseason plan of rehab and strength training has paid off.
Grier injured his hand against Texas last season and missed full games against Oklahoma and Utah. West Virginia simply looked puzzled without Grier leading the offense and those games were bad losses for the team.
Grier still had a remarkable season for the WVU football team as he completed 250 of 388 passes for 34 touchdowns and 3,490 yards. He appeared in 11 games and had seven wins.

The 2018 season can be a lot better as Grier appears to be healthy. There is a lot riding on this year and for the WVU football team to live up to its potential, it will need Grier to perform as well, and even better, than he did last season.
The WVU football team was in trouble last year when Grier went down because back up Chris Chugunov just couldn’t get the job done. He may have been fully prepared to take on a greater role, but his talent did not translate to the necessary skills of a Division I starter.
Behind Grier this year will be two more unproven youngsters with Jack Allison and Trey Lowe. Their cases will be similar to Chucgunov because no matter how good they were in high school, it’s hard to master that jump to the Division I level.
Grier’s injury came at a bad time on a misjudged play. Looking back, Grier likely would have never ran at a large defender like he did and he wouldn’t have held the ball out leaving his precious hand exposed. If nothing else, this injury should serve as a learning experience for what he can and can’t do as the team’s leader.

But now this truly is his team, even after just one season. Grier is a senior and a football guy at hear. He wants a big season just like all of Mountaineer Nation.
