Ever wanted the opportunity to have WVU football coach Dana Holgorsen cheer you on as you run through Morgantown? That opportunity is coming true in a few weeks.

Less than a week ago, Hail WV wrote an article saying that the annual Spring Game at Milan Puskar Stadium needed a boost to attract people on a Saturday. It’s still a little early in the game to get fully excited for football, so some other activities need to be put in place.

Some suggestions were a concert and kids zone, but WVU football head coach Dana Holgorsen and the administration came up with an even greater, more creative idea. There will be a 5K race on Spring Game Saturday.

On Wednesday, Holgorsen tweeted that the inaugural  Walk The talk With Dana will be held on April 7. The event includes a 5K race, kid’s dash and a 2.7-mile walk with the head coach, himself. The course ends on Mountaineer Field.

This is a great opportunity to allow fans to live out their lifelong dreams of running out of the tunnel and onto Mountaineer Field, just like their favorite WVU football players. Other schools have held similar events, like at Penn State. It will attracts thousands to Morgantown on a Saturday.

According to the official event website, the cost is $35 and also includes entry to the Spring Game. People love races and with the springtime season approaching, locals and those from the region would love to come for a scenic run around the WVU campus. The course should be fun and challenging with some many hills around Morgantown.

This will be a touchdown of an event. Hopefully, it becomes an annual thing. Along with the race, there will be other functions to support the Hostetler Family Resource Center at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.
