The WVU basketball team enacted revenge against Iowa State after falling to the Cyclones earlier in the season.

On Saturday at the WVU Coliseum, the WVU basketball team beat ISU, 85-70. With the win, the Mountaineers now have 21 wins on the season.

Leading the way for the WVU basketball team was senior leader Jevon Carter, who scored 24 points. Esa Ahmad added 18 points, while Sagaba Konate and Daxter Miles both poured in 14 points.

West Virginia was in control from the beginning in this one and played with confidence all the way through. The Mountaineers led 39-30 at halftime and took possession of five lead changes and at one point had a lead of 21 points.

The WVU basketball team was consistent on offense by shooting 45 percent in both the first and second half. The West Virginia defense limited ISU to 37 percent shooting in the first half which was a good sign considering how hot the Cyclones were in the first meeting between these teams this season.

Lindell Wigginton led the Cyclones with 29 points and Terrence Lewis finished with 12. Ahmad completed a double double by leading the WVU basketball team with 11 rebounds. As a team, the Mountaineers pulled down 47 rebounds compared to just 27 by Iowa State. The Cyclones were shorthanded and it showed, playing just seven players.

The Mountaineers got 17 second-chance points, but just four fast-break points. In a weird change of pace, the WVU basketball team actually got to the foul line more than its opponent. West Virginia was a great 20 of 23 from the line. ISU got to the line 22 times.

Sagaba Konate got six blocks to get his season total to near 100. The Mountaineers only turned ISU over eight times and got three steals with two coming by way of Miles.
