There’s been enough cases for the WVU basketball team this season to bounce back after a frustrating loss.

All eight losses this season have been in frustrating fashion for the WVU basketball. They were mostly all winnable games and all presented the Mountaineers with easy fixes. But that improvement has been easier said than done in many cases.

The WVU basketball team enters its next match up still ranked in the top 25. The next opponent, Baylor, isn’t ranked but might just be the hottest team in the best conference in college basketball. The Bears are 17-10 and have won five-straight games.

Baylor is coming off a huge win against Texas Tech, the previous hot team in the conference. Texas Tech saw its seven-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Baylor. This has been a special season for the Red Raiders, who might just unseat Kansas as Big 12 Champions. But this has been a special week for the Bears as they get hot at just the right time.

Baylor will probably make the NCAA Tournament. Probably on the bubble right now, but the Bears have shown how to win games in several different fashions. By closing out the season on a high note, Baylor will push nine teams into the big dance from the Big 12.

The reason for the Bears’ recent success has been the play of Terry Maston, according to WVUsports.com. Maston scored 24 points in the most recent win against Texas Tech. He is a solid inside out scorer with quick tendencies and a confidence that not many in the league possess.

West Virginia does have its own man made of confidence in Jevon Carter. He also scored 20-some points in the WVU basketball team’s most recent game. But if the Mountaineers will fully bounce back it will be because Carter led them into the right mentality.

The game of basketball requires physical and mental toughness. The Mountaineers, sometimes, look like a team that has both. A win over Baylor will take a full effort from both of those categories.
