The WVU basketball team earned a 44-26 win against Kentucky back in 1927. This was the third time the Wildcats played the Mountaineers. Kentucky earned a pair of victories in the first two match ups with the combined score totaling 53-40.
In today’s world, that would be considered a low-scoring game. But, that was actually a combined score. Without the 3-point line, and utilizing much less athletic players, it was a totally different ballgame.
In the victory at Kentucky’s Alumni Gymnasium, Truehart Taylor led all scorers with 10 points.
