The WVU basketball team doesn’t quite have the pedigree of Kentucky, but it is getting closer all the time.

A big reason why West Virginia can sometimes be thought of in the same breath as the Wildcats is because of head coach Bob Huggins. Huggins has built the Mountaineers into a perennial winner and a team that other programs shutter to think about.

That’s the case this year as the Mountaineers are set to take on a true college basketball blue blood in Kentucky. The Wildcats are down this year and not exactly the type of team that strikes fear into the opponent.

But, it’s still Kentucky. The Wildcats have a unique aura around them and in recent years, that is thanks to head coach John Calipari. The Moon Township, Pennsylvania native and Huggins are longtime friends, which makes this year’s match up in Morgantown even more special.

There have been a handful of great games between the Mountaineers and Wildcats already. According to WVUstats.com, the WVU basketball team is 5-15 against UK. Here is a look at those five victories.
