2017 Heart of Dallas Bowl

The 2017 Heart of Dallas Bowl was about as uninspired of a football game the WVU football team has ever played. It didn’t help that four offensive starters were out, nor was anything aided by the tiny number of fans in the stands at the Cotton Bowl.

The poor performance on the field was mostly the fault of quarterback Chris Chugunov who only completed 9 of 28 passes for just over 120 yards. The best drive was West Virginia’s final one of the game where most of its yards came from. Utah had called off the dogs which allowed Chugunov his best chance to reach the end zone. He found Ka’Raun White for the Mountaineers’ only touchdown of the day.

The best thing about the Heart of Dallas Bowl was that it had WVU football fans preparing for 2018 with dreams of Will Grier returning to lead the Mountaineers to a Big 12 Championship.
