This weekend, Dante Stills of Fairmont Senior will play Bluefield for the West Virginia Class AA state championship.
Win or lose, his high school career still won’t be over. In January, Stills will play in the Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando, Florida. Stills was one of the top vote receivers in an online poll to send several high school kids to this game.
Stills pedigree has prepared him for moments like this and there is plenty of time for more memories to happen. His father, Gary Stills, was a standout defensive player for the Mountaineers in the 1990s and his older brother, Darius, has seen some valuable playing time for West Virginia this season.
Dante has long been a WVU football target and those dreams are coming to fruition slowly but surely. Earlier this week at a ceremony at FSHS, Stills was presented with his game jersey by representatives from the All-Star Game.

As part of the #DreamFearlessly fan vote, Stills received the most votes, according to USA Today. The publication quoted Stills saying, “It’s just a blessing. It definitely means a lot that people wanted me in this game.” Stills already knows the pride and passions WVU football fans have for the program, the university and the state. Living a short drive from Morgantown and having a father who played for the Mountaineers has ingrained in him a knowledge for the loyalty of this fan base.

Hey, FanSided Fandom 250, this is just another prime reason why West Virginia feels rightfully snubbed for not making the list. West Virginians will protect and serve one of their own and Dante Stills genuinely feels appreciated by his fans.
Now, it is up to him to make the most of these final moments of his high school career. He has long been the big man on campus in Fairmont, but now comes the part where the competition becomes fiercer than ever. Bluefield is undefeated and wants to ensure FSHS loses in the state final for the second year in a row.
