Wendell Smallwood torched the Longhorns on the ground as he rushed for 165 yards. Skyler Howard was effective completing 10 of 12 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

The victory was part of a four-game winning streak for the WVU football team, which finished that season with an 8-5 record, including a win over Arizona State in the Cactus Bowl.
