Kyle Kempt

One of the best quarterbacks this season in the Big 12 Conference was relatively unheard of at the beginning of the season. Kyle Kempt has gone from scout team to first string with Iowa State.

He hails from Massillon, Ohio, the same hometown of Coach Campbell. He started his college career at Oregon State but found his way to the Cyclones when Campbell was named head coach. It’s been a good fit this season as Kempt has led the team to some great wins.

This year, Kempt has thrown for 859 yards by completing 74 of 111 passes. He was still the backup at the beginning of the season behind Jacob Park, who has thrown for 1,181 yards. Kempt has nine touchdown passes this season. Against TCU, he threw for 202 yards and his two touchdown passes were all the Cyclones needed to win.
