Perhaps the biggest game the WVU football team will play in 2017 comes this weekend to Morgantown.

The Mountaineers will face the Oklahoma State Cowboys under dreary conditions, according to weather.com. There is a 100 percent chance of rain on Saturday with conditions becoming heavier and wetter as the day goes on.

Also not helping matters is that many pundits are picking against the WVU football team, according to 247sports.com. Predictions aim for a close and high scoring affair, with the Cowboys pulling out a victory in the end.

The odds are stacked against the Mountaineers, too. According to sportsline.com, the WVU football team is a 10.5 point underdog to the Cowboys. More and more people seem to be betting on the Cowboys, too, as the line opened at 9.5. The over/under is 67.5, which is lower than the opening mark, probably because of the rain.

The game will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people nationwide as it is a noon kickoff on ABC. This is the first time the WVU football team will be playing on ABC this season. It is also another noon kickoff for the Mountaineers as every game this season, played at home, has been at 12 p.m.

In another interesting twist for a game that seems to be building up more and more, day by day. The Mountaineer Mascot Troy Clemons will not be wearing the bucksins at Milan Puskar Stadium as he was arrested for DUI on Oct. 27.

It’s a shame that this had to happen. As the Mountaineer Mascot, a student of WVU is supposed to be held to the highest esteem. Clemons showed no responsibility by getting behind the wheel of a car and speeding while intoxicated. So many people would love to be the mascot and an honor is thrown away because of a dumb mistake.

The Mountaineers on the field will do a fine job representing the university and the state with a win against a top ten team on Saturday.

Prediction … WVU wins in a 38-36 thriller.
