Bob Huggins sure knows how to make his presence felt. Whenever he walks into a room, he commands attention.

Whether he is at a coaching clinic, benefit dinner or on the recruiting trail at a high school, Bob Huggins attracts respect and always shows humility with his colleagues.

Sometimes, Huggins doesn’t even have to speak a word. Just seeing him somewhere is enough to garner a load of attention. That was the case this week at the annual Big 12 Media Day.

Bob Huggins, with senior players Jevon Carter and Daxter Miles Jr. showed up to the event wearing slick vests, shiny shoes and bow ties. They were deemed “best dressed” by all who attended.

The look eludes class, which is exactly what Bob Huggins has built as a program since returning to Morgantown in 2017. Huggins treats his players and the people he works with extremely well. To show how much of a players’ coach he really is, just look at the way he’s dressed with his guys.

The Mountaineers have fun together and a big reason for that is because of the example Huggins sets for his guys. He is undoubtedly a tough customer in some respects. He’s also hard to read in some cases, but if he’s given respect he will show it in return.

To see Bob Huggins dress as fancy as he did for media day should give the people who know him best a laugh. On the court, he usually wears whatever is most comfortable. His days of wearing suits to games are well in the past, so are his days of wearing gold suits that are still used in memes today.

We won’t see Bob Huggins wearing his fancy outfit again during games this season, so make that picture last a while. It’s good to know that Huggins is the type of coach who can laugh at himself every once in a while.

It also helps that he doesn’t take himself too seriously, even though he is as hard-nosed of a guy that anyone will ever meet.
