2016, 24-21 WVU win
In the lowest scoring and smallest margin of victory for a WVU football team in this series, the game closed out the 2016 season on a high note. West Virginia sent off two notable seniors in Skyler Howard and Rushel Shell with the victory.
Playing for the final time at Milan Puskar Stadium, Howard threw for 111 yards without an interception and Shell ran for just nine yards to cap off an underwhelming campaign and career with the Mountaineers.
West Virginia trailed by double digits early in this one but rallied for three unanswered scores on touchdown catches from Daikiel Shorts and Gary Jennings and a run by Howard.
