2014, 31-30 TCU win

This game in 2014, like this upcoming match up in 2017, has ESPN’s College Gameday featuring the Mountaineers and Horned Frogs. It was also a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.

This game could be looked at as one of the most epic, yet downright weird games, of the WVU football team’s tenure in the Big 12 Conference. West Virginia lost, but had a lead for almost the entire game.

The Mountaineers were up 13-0 early and lead, 13-7, at halftime. WVU had a two-score lead midway through the third quarter, but the Horned Frogs took control after that. Jaden Oberkrom of the Horned Frogs kicked a last-second field goal to lift his team to a 31-30 victory in front of 61,190 stunned fans at Milan Puskar Stadium.

Mario Alford had 106 all-purpose yards in the loss, while Clint Trickett tossed for 162 yards. Trickett was sacked twice and threw two interceptions.
