The past two years, 2015 and 2016, have seen the highest margins of victory by both teams. The Horned Frogs won, 40-10, in 2015 and the Mountaineers won, 34-10, in 2016. All the other match up have been fairly close contests.

Last year, two of the WVU football team’s most polarizing players had arguably their best games. Quarterback Skyler Howard did not throw an interception and finished with 231 passing yards and running back Rushel Shell scooted for 117 yards. Neither player received the warmest welcome and both struggled in their own ways. It was good for them to have a bright spot in their senior years.

West Virginia had a big first half in this one which put the game away early. The Mountaineers had a 14-point lead thanks to two touchdown passes from Howard in the first quarter.
