Coopers Rock State Forest

Located in both Monongalia and Preston counties, Coopers Rock State Forest is about a half hour drive outside of the heart of Morgantown. Coopers Rock offers breathtaking views of the canyon and river below.

The many overlooks offer surrounding views of great trees and ridges. There are also a number of walking trails and rock climbing courses available. The Cheat River below is perfect for kayaking, white water rafting and swimming.

This weekend, the weather will start cool but warm up to the 70s, according to weather.com. Still, there won’t be a cloud in the sky. The ideal time to visit Coopers Rock is in late October, but the colors will start to change this weekend.
