Weather and info for WVU football game against Kansas
It’ll be another hot one for the Mountaineers on Saturday. Let’s hope Will Grier stays hot for the WVU football team, too.
The WVU football team will look for its first Big 12 Conference victory of the year against the Kansas Jayhawks, who only won one Big 12 game a year ago. The Mountaineers will need to probably win all of their conference games this season for a chance to play in the inaugural Big 12 Championship game.
According to weather.com, it will be a gorgeous day in Lawrence, Kansas. However, temperatures could reach 90 degrees and it will be a completely sunny day. The players who hail from the south may welcoming this news, but they’ll be in for a rude awakening if it snows back in Morgantown in late November.
The game will give WVU quarterback Will Grier a chance to shine in his first true road game. His first game as a Mountaineer was the neutral site game against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field and his past two games were in the friendly confines of Milan Puskar Stadium.

Though a huge throng of WVU football fans probably won’t be making the trip, there are other ways for those staying back in the Mountain State.
- The game is televised nationally on ESPNU.
- Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG radio coverage begins at 8:30 a.m. with locals Dan Zangrilli, Dale Wolfley and Jed Drenning providing coverage.
- Tony Caridi and Dwight Wallace will call the game on West Virginia radio stations, as well as WVUsports.com and the TuneIn app.
Kickoff is at noon, so it will be interesting to see how the travel plus an early start time will affect the visiting Mountaineers. Again, the WVU football team should have no problem beating the Jayhawks, but they can’t come out as flat against Kansas as they did against Delaware State.
Grier should have another game of at least 300 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. He will probably sit for at lease a full quarter of the second half to give Chris Chugunov a chance to get some good time under center.
Kennedy McKoy will be back in action after his one-game suspension against Delaware State. Also running the ball will be feature back Justin Crawford who has recorded 100 yards in all three games so far.
