It’s a beautiful day for WVU football. A new season is upon us and the Mountaineers could not have asked for a better day to start a journey to a Big 12 and a national championship.

For anybody making the easy trip from West Virginia to Landover, Maryland, it seems like the worst of the weather is behind you. On Saturday, there were overcast skies in the region and raindrops falling ever-so-slightly.

Today, though, it’s gorgeous. According to weather.com, there are a few clouds in the skies, but the  sun will be out for the entire day. A high temperature of 79 degrees is just what the doctor ordered.

It’s really perfect weather for football. Of course, people will say that cold and rainy conditions are what football was meant to be played in. Today’s weather is perfect for both players and fans, alike. It’s not too hot, so the players will not be overwhelmed. Fans should have nothing to complain about, either. Just be sure to put some sunscreen on, just in case.

Also of note, the WVU football team is already familiar with the playing conditions of FedEx Field in Landover. The Mountaineers played their last season in a game against BYU. West Virginia got up early, but had to hold on late to secure a 35-32 victory. That game was the Mountaineers third of the season after they earned victories over Missouri and Youngstown State.

It’s a new-look WVU football team, as opposed to last year’s team that played at FedEx Field. Every player that scored a touchdown against BYU (Daikiel Shorts, Skyler Howard, Rushel Shell and Rasul Douglas) are no longer on the team.

Here is some other pertinent information, from WVUsports.com, to prepare you for Mountaineer game time:

Legendary coaches Don Nehlen and Frank Beamer will be on hand to serve as ceremonial captains. ABC (Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Todd McShay) will televise the game nationally, while the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG’s radio coverage (Tony Caridi, Dwight Wallace and Jed Drenning) can be accessed on stations throughout West Virginia, online through WVUsports.com and via the mobile app WVU Gameday, available for download through the Apple and Google Play stores.
