The Battle for the Black Diamond Trophy is an important chapter in the stories of both the Virginia Tech and WVU football programs.

Both the Hokies and the Mountaineers have a great and storied gridiron history and another chapter writes itself this Sunday. The WVU football team and Virginia Tech will meet up for the first time since 2005 at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

The Hokies look like a five-point favorite, though the projected score is just a one-point victory by VT, according to oddsshark.com.

Though if the Mountaineers pull out a victory, it should not and will not be considered an upset. Both teams are ranked near each other in the preseason rankings.
