Virginia Tech vs. West Virginia

The Battle for the Black Diamond Trophy will have the nation’s attention on Sunday. It’s a big rivalry being renewed at a neutral site with the Washington Redskins’ FedEx Field serving as a gracious host.

There won’t be any home field advantage for either team as a 50/50 crowd should be expected. Also even, are the Mountaineers and Hokies’ prospectus for the 2017 season. They are close in the preseason rankings and, on-paper, they seem to be even as well.

Last year, Virginia Tech went 10-4 and 6-2 in conference to finish first in the ACC Coastal. West Virginia went 10-3 and 7-2 in conference to finish in a tie for second in the Big 12.

Prediction: West Virginia 34, Virginia Tech 27.
