Milan Puskar Stadium is a wonderful facility for college athletics. The WVU football team and fans of the Mountaineers are lucky to call it home.

In recent years, the West Virginia athletic department has gone above and beyond to improve the fan experience at Milan Puskar Stadium. With updated concourses and more food and drink options, the gameday experience has truly gone beyond the game.

Athletic Director Shane Lyons and the rest of the department really out did themselves with the recent addition to the stadium. The new video board above the Touchdown Terrace is truly a work of art.

In its introductory tests, the video board looked bold and vibrant. It showed a wonderful montage that traveled through the history books of the WVU football program.

This new video board will be the second one in the stadium. The one on the opposite side of the field was updated roughly 10 years. The new one will seem to dwarf the old one.

It’s been almost 15 years since there were two scoreboards in the stadium. Up until 2004, when the Touchdown Terrace was built, an old fashioned scoreboard was set up. it proudly displayed the word, “finally” when the Mountaineers beat Penn State, 51-38, in 1988.

The new scoreboard is sure to be a part of other iconic moments in WVU football history.

According to WVUsports.com, new high definition video board will be 37.2 feet high by 97.2 feet long for a total of 3,616 square feet. The square footage dwarfs the current board, which is 23.6 feet high by 85 feet long for a total of 2,006 square feet.

"The 13 HD board will offer brighter and clearer high definition images to punch through direct sunlight and other outdoor elements, providing a consistent, crisp image with deep contrast, a release stated."

It will be visible from all corners of the stadium. Nearly all 60,000 fans at Milan Puskar Stadium will be able to see the videos, scores and replays.

The Big 12 Conference is home to some other great stadiums including Darrell K Royal Stadium in Texas, Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Oklahoma and Boone Pickens Stadium at Oklahoma State.

Milan Puskar Stadium isn’t really as legendary or innovative as those aforementioned, but this new video board will certainly launch it into an elite class of stadiums.

Lyons, President Gordon Gee and head coach Dana Holgorsen really do listen to the fans and they want what is best for the WVU football program and West Virginia University.

Once the team opens up against East Carolina on Sept. 9, heads will be turning to see that new video board in action.
