Plenty of talented prep prospects came to the WVU football facilities on Saturday for the final camp with the Mountaineers for the summer 2016 session. Many of the young players took part in the camp to show off their skills and prepare themselves for the next year, or the year after.
Many of these players will be playing at Division I schools, this time next year. These guys also have to do some soul-searching to find out which program is the best fit for them.
Looking at Tomlinson, the WVU football team very well could be a future destination for him.
Tomlinson was one of the young guys at camp on Saturday. He is a rising junior at Eastern High School in southern Ohio, near the Kentucky border. Coming from a rural area, many regional college coaches may not be aware of him just yet. By performing well at the WVU football camp, Tomlinson is sure to climb higher on many team’s radars.
In the class of 2018, Tomlinson is a tight end and defensive end, who has the body to play either position at the next level. His team went just 3-7 last season, but should improve as an overall unit once Tomlinson comes into his own as a player.

The Eastern Eagles open the season on Aug. 26 on the road at Millersport. With Eastern, Tomlinson is also a basketball standout. His overall athletic ability will certainly give him a great chance at landing some Division I school.
Tomlinson has recently attended camps at Cincinnati, Marshall and Ohio University. Any one of the programs in the tri-state area could be the first to jump on Tomlinson. However, West Virginia may already have the upperhand.
His experience, and accolades, from Saturday likely has the Mountaineers high on his mind. Assistant coaches Ron Crook and Tony Gibson have already forged a relationship with Tomlinson and it shouldn’t be long until WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen shows interest in the big guy, too.
