Next game

Now, the real work begins.

The Mountaineers move on the face No. 3 seed Oklahoma in the semifinals. The Sooners held off Iowa State for a 79-76 victory in the nightcap in Kansas City.

The WVU basketball team needs the old adage, “it’s tough to beat a team three times” to come true.

The Sooners have defeated West Virginia twice this season. On Jan. 16 in Norman, Okla., the Sooners won, 70-68, on a last-second tip in by Khadeem Lattin. The match up in Morgantown was also closely contested until the bitter end. Oklahoma wound up winning, 76-62, on Feb. 20.

That was the last loss for the Mountaineers. They are now on a five-game winning streak.
