After missing the past three WVU basketball games, it seems Jonathan Holton will likely be sidelined for a fourth.

On Monday, West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said that Holton “probably won’t” play against the Jayhawks in Allen Fieldhouse, according to multiple media outlets.

"“I think the biggest difference is that we probably won’t have Jon Holton,” Huggins said during the Big 12 coaches teleconference on Monday morning. “He rebounds the ball so well and he also is the key to what we do pressure wise.”"

This comes after Huggins’ declaration on Holton following the Mountaineers’ 80-69 win over Baylor on Saturday.

Huggins was asked by play-by-play announcer Tony Caridi on the post game radio show, as well as the post game media session, if Holton’s indefinite suspension would end with Tuesday’s game against Kansas.

"“I have no idea,” Huggins said. “I have no idea. I wish I did. I wish I knew.”"

It would seem that Huggins is in full of control, though. He’s likely the one who initiated this discipline and he would be the one who could decide to end it.

The duration of the suspension, which was laid down on Jan. 29, was indefinite. An indefinite suspension indicates that there is no set length of time for it. Three games was widely assumed to be the length of the suspension, even before the Mountaineers played a game without Holton.

But it’s been three games (a loss to Florida, a win against Iowa State and a win against Baylor). A fourth against Kansas is looming and the Mountaineers could certainly use Holton.

Before the suspension, he was averaging 9.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while starting each time out. In his last game before the suspension, Holton led the WVU basketball team with 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 70-55 win against Kansas State.

"“He’s staying on the floor and he’s getting his bounce back,” said Huggins of Holton. “I think we all went through a little deal there because it’s a long year and everybody was missing a little bounce.”"

Well, Holton never did get to show what bounce he could build off of.

If he does come back soon, will he be able to sustain the statistics he achieved in the first part of the season?

Will he be off a step?

Will he have a bad attitude?

Will he come back better than ever before?

Time will tell. But, as of now, nobody has any idea of the time Holton will remain out for the Mountaineers.
