Cold shooting
A snowstorm and temperatures in the teens kept fans away from the WVU Coliseum for the second-straight home game. The only thing colder than the Morgantown evening was the performance inside the basketball arena.
"“I want to apologize to all of the people who fought very inclement weather, went through the snow, traffic and all of that to get here and watch that … it’s an embarrassment,” Huggins said. “I’m embarrassed. It took something for the people to get here and I just want everyone to know how much I appreciate it.”"
West Virginia was 3 for 21 from behind-the-arc, 19 of 61 from the field, with just two fast break points. While the outside game clearly was not there, the Mountaineers had a solid flow going inside as WVU scored 30 points in the paint, compared to 14 by Texas.
When West Virginia was missing shots, they were committing fouls on the other end. There was a period in the first half where the Mountaineers missed 10 of 11 shots, and committed seven fouls in that span as an obvious sign of frustration.
